Some Friendly Advice

Nathan Colmer and his daughter have their hearts in the right place. The acting is good. The cinematography is good. The ending is powerful. But the film isn't very entertaining. It is too long. IMDB has it listed as 84 minutes, but the real running time is more than 112 minutes. That is honestly too long. The pacing lags badly. There's too many shots of paddling down the river. I don't want to trash their efforts, but the pacing level of the film needed to be much better. There's not enough tension here to sustain these long periods of nothing happening. The only zombie in the film doesn't show up until very late in the film. It might be due to the budget, but having a number of zombies would have created a lot more tension. The creators of A Father's Love have a lot of potential. But they need to work on their pacing. Of course, some people might like this film much better than I did because there is a lot of competent work here. But I can only give A Father's Love a rating of 5 out of 10.
