Definitely Original And A Great Read

Tim Lebbon's novel, Coldbrook, is definitely a very impressive novel on every level. At it's most basic level, it's a typical zombie apocalypse human survival story. But Lebbon expands the boundaries of the story to give things a wholly new and original twist to it. The novel does suffer from some characters making decisions that seem to be stupid beyond all reason. Some can be explained logically, but there are other ones that beggar the imagination and are almost inexcusable. Still, Coldbrook as a whole works very well. There's lots of action in here, which also, to be honest, somewhat hampers the development of some characters. But the ideas and concepts of the larger scale story really do make everything worthwhile. I give Coldbrook a rating of 7 out of 10.
