avril lavigne tour dates – Avril Lavigne Tickets

Lavigne’s music took a more contemplative turn with 2004’s Under My Skin, which did not fare as well as her first album. Three years after splitting from ex-husband Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, the “Head Above Water” singer says she has found new love.

This year she released her sixth studio album, Head Above Water. We spoke to her by telephone on Sept. 26, a few hours before a show in Chicago and one day before her 35th birthday. She was right in the middle of her 15-date Head Above Water” tour, her first in five years.

The Head Above Water Tour is set to take place in spring 2020 and sees Avril perform two dates across the UK: first she will play the O2 Academy Brixton in London on 1 April, before heading off to Manchester to perform at the O2 Apollo on 2 April.

But maybe never showing vulnerability is key to Lavigne’s 17-year pop career. She has heartfelt songs – her debut album’s I’m With You is a fantastic pop-rock ballad, later sampled by Rihanna – but her exterior has swung between feckless (giving the finger on MTV’s era-defining Total Request Live in 2004) and brittle. (She regrets the tearful 2015 television interview announcing her illness.) She is publicly close to both her ex-husbands, Kroeger and Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley, whom she met aged 17, married at 21 and divorced at 25.

So I had the foundation prior to getting Lyme, and it was always important to me – to give back to the kinds and people with disabilities. And now we still work with that but also we focus a lot on Lyme. So now I’m partnered up with Global Lyme Alliance and Lymelight – two existing organizations.

There’s another song on the new album called Dumb Blonde” (featuring Nicki Minaj), which is a timely female empowerment anthem. After all, while Lavigne was recuperating the world has pretty much gone to shit.

A: The album hits on different subjects. On Warrior” and Head Above Water,” I’m fighting for my life. Go behind the scenes with Fit For An Autopsy as they track songs for their upcoming album, The Sea of Tragic Beasts.

Of course, we’re playing all the old songs too throughout the last 17 years, the big ones. And so it’s been really fun, rehearsing those as well, because they have a different energy. It’s even nostalgic for me. It reminds me of that time in my life. And I think the concert is going to be this really dope journey.

Starting in March, Avril will tour around Europe with her new album Head Above Water, which she has been performing in the US after a five year hiatus. After the uncomplicated success (sorry) of the US shows, Avril has announced she will be taking the tour to Europe next year and even further afield after that.

The Canadian rocker will play two dates at London’s O2 Academy Brixton and Manchester’s O2 Apollo in support of her sixth album Head Above Water – which arrived in February 2019. Her London concert takes place on 1 April then she heads to Manchester only a day later.

That youthful, free-spirited delinquency continued to carry through the albums that succeeded Let Go,” even as sweeping, lovelorn piano ballads worked to offset it. But in 2014, a year after releasing her self-titled fifth album and not long after her 30th birthday, Lavigne was diagnosed with Lyme disease and music was placed on the back burner. There was a time she, and her fans, thought she would die.

Lavigne sang all the time as a child, much to the chagrin of her two siblings. Raised by deeply religious parents, she first started performing in church choirs. Lavigne learned to play the guitar and began composing her own music as a teenager. At first, she reportedly focused on country music, eventually changing her tune. Leaving high school, she went first to New York City and then to Los Angeles to work with Arista Records.

The tour marks Lavigne’s first run of shows in five years and is named for her sixth album Head Above Water, which was released in February. The New York indie-rockers finally returned in 2019 after six years without a new album and look to be just as popular as ever, with two shows at this huge north London venue.

The first curveball of the night came when Lavigne flexed her songwriting résumé by belting “Breakaway,” a hit she wrote for Kelly Clarkson in 2004. A few minutes later, her band took over with an extended instrumental of “Hello Kitty,” twisting the EDM-pop thumper into a hard-rock banger. And in another head-scratcher, Lavigne hopped behind the drums for a cover of Weezer’s “Beverly Hills,” with opening act Jagwar Twin taking lead vocals.

Quite a bit has happened in Avril Lavigne’s world during the five years since she last toured. While I Fell in Love With the Devil may be the newest single from Lavigne’s latest record, Head Above Water (2019), it’s been out since February.

A: Funny enough, having the break made me realize how much I need music in my life. I was quiet at home and there was nothing going on. I would constantly have these little poems and ideas and songs coming to me. It showed me how much being creative is something that I need.

We believe that music is a universal language that unites all of us and brings people from all walks of life together. We thrive on making people happy from the time we open our doors to the last note of the concert.

Avril Lavigne’s concert was terrific. She is still beautiful and sang great, played great guitar and piano. Considering she came close to death with Lyme Desease a few years ago it’s a miracle she has resumed her career. I hope she tours and records more. The show was a little short, but since it’s her first time back that was OK.

The Canadian-born pop songstress was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2014, which sidelined her for a lengthy hiatus after touring to support her self-titled 2013 album. In the midst of that she also separated from her second husband, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, after a bit over two years of marriage.

A: Really excited. It’s been really inspiring learning all the new songs and bringing them to life, and relearning the old ones. Tickets for the European leg of the Head Above Water Tour are on sale now, and you can buy tickets for the UK dates here.

The singer previously had spoken about taking a step back from the limelight over the last few years due to her struggles with Lyme disease and £2 from every ticket sold will be donated to The Avril Lavigne Foundation, which supports people suffering from it.

The silver lining of it” – making her way back to health after years of incapacitation and physical therapy and powerful drugs – is that I’ve really had the time to be able to just be present, instead of being, like, a machine: studio, tour, studio, tour. This is the first break I’ve ever taken since I was 15.” In this small way, Lavigne breaking was a blessing.

Avril Lavigne delivered a heartfelt performance of her latest single, Tell Me It’s Over,” during Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday. Lavigne was backed by her five-piece band, whose melodic doo-wop harmonies buoyed the intimate performance of her latest Head Above Water single.

A two-song encore saved the best for last. After taking to the piano for Fell in love with the Devil,” the soft sound of violin led into arguably the best song in her catalog, I’m With You.” Her voice soared, slight yodel inflection echoing softly before being swallowed up by the thousands of voices singing back at her. While Avril Lavigne didn’t necessarily take her audience by the hand to take them somewhere new, they’re definitely still with her.

Pop-rock star Avril Lavigne has added on a series of stops to her world tour, including two dates in the UK. Avril Lavigne has opened up about her struggle with Lyme disease, revealing that the life-threatening illness stopped her performing for years.

The singer rose to fame with her singles Complicated and Sk8er Boi from her 2002 debut album Let Go. Pop rock icon and global recording superstar Avril Lavigne will bring her highly anticipated Head Above Water” tour to the UK in April 2020.

Three years later she returned with her second number 1 The Best Damn Thing , a bright, pop-punk album which strayed away from her previous efforts switching meaningful and personal lyricism music she more bratty, fun music she could enjoy performing live. It spawned Avril’s first and only #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart: Girlfriend.” The song’s music video was the first video to reach the 100 million view milestone on YouTube and it was the most-watched video at that time. It’s second single, When You’re Gone,” , became a top 40 hit in the U.S.

The only thing that many people criticize her is her personality. One minute she was slamming Britney Spears and swore that she’d never dress like a music hore , selling her body instead of her music, the next minute she’s become another Britney Spears, or as she thinks, “a punk version of Britney Spears and a more mature” of herself. She then sings songs like “Hot” and “Girlfriend” and wears revealing clothes.

Avril Lavigne has been a lot of things. You probably think of her most as the necktie-rocking, eyeliner-inked rebel who skated onto the scene in 2002 and shook up the Britney-dominated pop landscape. In 2007, after an emotionally intense second album, she injected a burst of bubblegum into her music, putting pink streaks in her hair and cluttering her aesthetic with skulls and hearts. In 2011, she emerged as a brooding, lullaby-singing romantic, and in 2014, she was gone. And so, when Lavigne returned last year after taking a long break from music to battle Lyme disease, the artist we’d known for almost two decades was, suddenly, a mystery. But not for long — her sixth album, released in February, introduced us to a self-proclaimed “warrior”; someone older, wiser, but still down to rock.

On the 4th of June 2002, she released her debut album Let Go which consisted of the super famous hit “Complicated”, which a music video was made for and won itself a MTV Video Music Award in 2002. I remember watching that exact segment during the award presentation, it was then I began to ask “Who is this girl? I really like her and her music”. She has launched two albums ever since, Under My Skin and The Best Damn Thing. She is now in the works of creating her fourth studio album. She has even acted in a few sitcoms and films, such as the “Fast Food Nation” In 2006 and “The Flock” In 2007.

Avril is on the board of Race To Erase MS, and is engaged with the work of both LymeLight Foundation and Global Lyme Alliance. Her impact extends far beyond the worlds of music and philanthropy into business, fashion, film, and television as well. Following an entrepreneurial instinct and lifelong passion for fashion, she introduced Abbey Dawn in 2008. Defined by her edgy aesthetic, fashion-forward perspective, and attitude, it continues to thrive with new launches seasonally as well as presence at New York Fashion Weeks and more. Expanding her influence and furthering her passion for performance, she starred in Richard Linklater’s Fast Food Nation, DreamWorks Animation’s film Over the Hedge, Fast Food Nation, The Flock, and more.
