That sound is at the core of every song on their debut album, Blue Roses (out June 28 via Wheelhouse Records) – especially the hauntingly personal title track. We all love Bluegrass and traditional Country music. That’s been all of our hearts,” says Jennifer. It’s what we love singing every single night, and it’s the backbone to all of our songs.” With the sparest of instrumentation and the gloriously rich three-part vocal line that put Runaway June on the map, Blue Roses” may be a meditation on mortality – but sonically, it stands as a proud mission statement for this band as their first full-length record finally makes its way into the world.

Three weeks later, Janson was able to move out of his car. He was happy with his tips, but wanted more. The young artist is eager and ready to take those songs to fans across the country, and has spent the past year playing shows and building fans around his home state of Kentucky and across the Southeast. For Walker, connecting to each and every person and taking them along for the musical ride is the ultimate goal.
Oh man are these some stinkers. Not only does an elite and highly-trained group of mainstream country artists seem to be like devoted experts at defining new lows for the genre, in 2017 the amount of non-country-ness of some of these country” songs is so off the charts, it’s like they’re purposely challenging each other.

Show was ok. No opening act, which was fine. Show scheduled to start at 8 p.m. and started around 8:30 p.m. Not a bad thing. Took that long to get a drink. My biggest issue with the show was mainly all the talking. Chris Janson would play maybe two (2) songs and then go into some blah blah blah talking and that kind of killed the show for me. Definitely not the most entertaining concert I have seen. Probably would avoid seeing him again if given the opportunity and will just listen to his songs on the radio. Less commentary.

Both a restless ball of energy and a dedicated husband and father, his new tunes bound between jacked-up enthusiasm and heartfelt tenderness. Rafter-shaking electric guitars weave in and out of twangy, pure-country vocals, while homespun hooks and acoustic melodies bring soaring themes of love, life, and legacy down to earth.

Born in Missouri, Janson was working as a songwriter as early as 18 years old, collaborating with the likes of Guns N’ Roses’ Bill Anderson and Holly Williams, granddaughter of Hank Williams, Sr. After relocating to Nashville, he landed a year-long residency at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounger, where he caught the attention of Neil Young one night with a cover of Young classic “Cortez the Killer.” Releasing his self-titled debut album in 2013, Janson landed two singles on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, “Better I Don’t” and “Cut Me Some Slack,” but it was his unpredictable live performances that really turned heads. Following the early-2014 release of sophomore album Take It to the Bank, Janson hit the road for a highly anticipated tour in support of the record.
