While in the independent realm of country music, 2017 went down as a record year for quality projects, the mainstream was downright abysmal pretty much across the board for both songs and albums.

The snarl in his voice sets the tone for Jon Pardi’s California Sunrise. In addition to the album and single, Jon will launch his Heartache Medication Tour with back-to-back shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Oct. 2 and 3, followed by additional stops in Milwaukee, Seattle, San Diego, Phoenix and more. Riley Green will serve as direct support.
Featuring friend and producer Bart Butler at the production reigns, the singer begun work on his debut album, the first single of which Missin’ You Crazy” arrived in March 2012. Marking his debut on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, it was his second, Top 10 single Up All Night” which exposed Pardi to a large country music audience. In January 2014 the singer-songwriter issued his debut full-length album Write You a Song”. Peaking at No. 3 on the U.S. Country Album Chart and No. 14 on the Billboard 200, the record proved a critically acclaimed, cohesive country album, and spawned the subsequent singles What I Can’t Put Down” and When I’ve Been Drinking”.
Up and coming country music star Jon Pardi may be a new face at the CMA Awards, but the man certainly knows how to create a hit song. On 2nd October 2019, Jon Pardi popped the question to his girlfriend Summer Duncan during the show at Nashville in the iconic Ryman Auditorium.
Pardi’s timing is good, with Heartache Medication releasing on the heels of the much celebrated (and criticized, depending on who you ask) documentary Country Music, from Ken Burns’ Florentine Films, which has done its share to generate interest in country’s more traditional sounds.
In jeans, boots and a floral button-down, the 6-foot-3 34-year-old Dirt on My Boots” singer leaned against the wall of windows at Universal Music Group Nashville, 22 stories above Music City’s constant roar of traffic and bachelorettes. Though it was still early afternoon, the streets already look congested, he remarked. In the moment, Pardi is a long way from the precocious little boy who said his name was Merle Haggard. It didn’t last long. When Pardi strode out of the room, the record label’s head of promotion Bobby Young met him at the door.
Before Pardi goes into high gear worrying about album three, he says he’ll likely have three more singles off California Sunrise, including Heartache on the Dance Floor” which hits radio May 1. Pardi wrote the song with producer Bart Butler and frequent collaborator Brice Long and says that he had the title for a long time. Determined to make the track fun and groovy,” he knew Heartache on the Dance Floor” needed a distinct dance beat and the three songwriters came up with the story.
Jon Pardi is one of my favorite artists who embraces that traditional country sound. He broke through in 2015 when his hit ‘Dirt on My Boots’ topped the country charts. It’s a classic honky-tonk shuffle that people still love today. Back then, his sound was pretty unique. But in the past several years country music is changing. Artists like Luke Combs, Midland, and Miranda Lambert are returning the sound to a more traditional sounding era. Pardi fits right in.
Aug 02, 2019 Jon Pardi’s “Heartache Medication” Music Video Jon Pardi ‘s new music video for Heartache Medication came out today and I have to admit, it’s pretty cute and I’m very impressed by his dancing! It features him and his girlfriend, Summer Duncan, having a good time two-steppin’ at a bar.
Capitol Records Nashville signed Pardi, sending him into the studio with producer Bart Butler. “Missin’ You Crazy,” his first single, appeared in the spring of 2012, but it was the 2013 single “Up All Night” that gave him his first country Top Ten. Write You a Song, his full-length debut, appeared in early 2014. It peaked at 14 on Billboard’s Top 200 and three on their country albums charts.
The Californian turned Tennessean’s voice falls in casual disgust as he contemplates aloud about how he is going to get more work done on his sprawling 15-acre farm while he is out on the road in support of his third full-length album Heartache Medication , out last Friday.
Pardi remembers Head Over Boots” slowly climbing up the charts. The song was released in September of 2015 and hit No. 1 nearly a year later in August of 2016, shortly after the release of California Sunrise.
Pardi is a California native, but he’s got the Nashville arithmetic down to a science. Break up with a woman, drown your sorrows and write about it. There are at least four songs here that find our protagonist listening to a jukebox and tipping back a beer or something stronger.
Jon Pardi Tour 2019: Jon Pardi (born May 20, 1985) is an American country singer-songwriter and guitarist who made his national debut in 2012 with the single Missin’ You Crazy”, hailing from Dixon, California, U.S.
The Canadian-born Townes, isn’t quite like anyone else who has graced the city’s stages. With the lyrical fortitude of Griffin or Lori McKenna, the soulful nature of Chris Stapleton or even Adele, Townes is paving ground all her own. Working on her debut LP with Jay Joyce, the Nashville-based Townes started her journey to becoming one of country’s most promising new artists back in rural Canada, in the backseat of a car.
Jon Pardi sits in front of a George Strait photograph at Universal Music Group Nashville on Aug. 6, 2019. When Pardi was young, he told his preschool teacher that his name was George Strait.
He remembers a recent songwriting appointment with Laird and Josh Thompson that ended at Music Row bar Loser’s around 1 p.m. Pardi said the men headed over thinking they were going to see some old-timers” and listen to ‘90s country. When they arrived, they felt like the old-timers. As they listened to the contemporary songs playing in the bar, Laird pinned the predictability of the music, calling out the chord changes before they happened and accurately anticipating the timing and use of the click track.
It’s been a big week for Pardi – outside of his exciting engagement, the country crooner also dropped his new album, Heartache Medication , on Sept. 27.
Those people who already know the words to his songs even before they’re released are evidence that he’s not just running the race. Jon Pardi is winning.
Pardi became particularly close with songwriter Bart Butler, whose successes include Thomas Rhett’s Make Me Wanna” and Bobby Pinson’s Don’t Ask Me How I Know.” Butler not only became a frequent co-writer, he also emerged as Pardi’s co-producer, someone who’s able to handle the detail parts of the gig but also to assist Pardi in expressing his own creative voice.
Not that Pardi isn’t committed to his music career also. The California native has been successfully juggling both maintaining his farm and working on his music, and sees no reason why he can’t keep doing both.
Jul 28, 2019 Jon Pardi ‘s current single and his forthcoming album’s title track, “Heartache Medication” hit country radio earlier this summer on June 3. Since then, Pardi has shared short videos to his Instagram teasing the single’s upcoming music video. Based on the short snippets shared, it looks like the music video was filmed in a smokey country bar.

The unifying thread, of course, is Pardi’s artistry, a blend of that crackling, masculine voice with irresistible musical taste and a working-man spirit that’s at the heart of his being. Pardi is a native of the Golden State, but he’s no Hollywood Hills golden child. He’s a middle-class son of a Northern California construction boss, a kid who – like most kids – tried to figure out the shortcuts, only to learn from the old man the value of putting in the time to finish the job the right way.

Pardi is also known for his gold-certified album, “California Sunrise,” which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart last year and features chart-topping hits like “Dirt On My Boots,” “Head Over Boots,” “Heartache on the Dance Floor” and the current single “Night Shift.” The album earned Pardi CMA New Artist of the Year and ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year awards. “Head Over Boots” became Pardi’s fastest-rising single to date, thanks to its buoyant melody and incessant optimism.
As is his artistry. Pardi wrote a bulk of the songs on California Sunrise, but he was more than willing to consider material from other Nashville songwriters. He discovered a bevy of tunes that had been overlooked in the rush for synthetic productions from some of his contemporaries. He used mostly the same band that backed him on the first album, and they were invested in both the music and Pardi.
And while Pardi admits that he didn’t sway too far out of his lane on the album, there were songs that required some extra time to make sure they were right.
Pardi established that lane with his 2014 debut, Write You a Song, a rough-and-rowdy project that made him familiar to the suddenly-hip country crowd, thanks to his Top 10 party song Up All Night.” The music oozed with youthful brashness and longneck longing, and Pardi drew a raucous following, increasingly selling out 1,000-2,000 ticket clubs, sometimes out-performing higher-profile country acts playing across town the same night.
Fond of music from an early age, Jon began writing when he was merely 12. By the next two years, he had already formed his own band. The rising star’s fascination towards the music industry eventually led him to move to Nashville upon his high school graduation.
Respectful but not reactionary, Pardi’s evolved approach to country’s heritage sets him apart at a moment when Nashville seems to want to divide itself into the trailblazers and the preservationists.
Perhaps it was when she found herself playing on the Grand Ole Opry at just age 18. Or maybe it was when a succession of country stars — Terri Clark, Martina McBride, Blake Shelton — invited her on their tours. Or maybe it was when her calendar had filled up, turning her into one of Nashville’s most sought-after studio musicians.
Perhaps the best example of this is when his single, Head Over Boots,” which is in essence a country shuffle, topped the charts. When the song went to No. 1, it followed the success of the pop-tinged Fix” by Chris Lane from the previous week. Pardi isn’t surprised by the versatility of the genre and he says it’s something critics have been arguing about for years.
Pardi, a genuine country superstar, closed out the night with his own version of a Dive Bar Tour stop. The Buckhead Theatre isn’t a hole-in-the-wall but any means, but it was an intimate setting for Pardi’s stadium-ready stage show and a celebration of one of this fall’s most anticipated country albums. With Pardi’s star on the rise, it might be the only time these songs get played in a theater setting.
It will be exciting to have this great night of country music on Friday night at the Fair,” said CCF Manager Jeremy Parsons. MusicRow has released its 2019 Publisher Issue, with Carrie Underwood gracing the cover.
After school, she continued this ethos by launching a tour called Play It Forward, where she spent 32 weeks on the road, visiting 106 schools and playing music for over 35,000 students. Meant to encourage leadership and inspire youth, it was a huge success and completely born out of Townes’ own scrappy sense of anything is possible.” Some of the stories she heard along the way even inspire songs on her debut LP. The idea of community that she grew up with comes through, too. Her music is that kitchen table, her words are the experiences and struggles and moments of joy she wants to share, packed with her dynamic vocals and, at the core, that heart.
Pardi has a song on the new album called Call Me Country” that talks about ghost(s) on the radio,” name-checking a lot of country greats who were recurrent in Burns’ series and whose likes we aren’t likely to see again. He emphasizes that it’s not an angry or accusatory tune. It’s just a fun kind of rowdy song about my ‘70s heroes,” he says, an homage to Waylon, Willie, Merle — some of those sounds that ain’t ever gonna really come back, on the radio… I mean, I’ll try,” he adds with a laugh.
The snarl in his voice sets the tone for Jon Pardi’s California Sunrise. He’s a traditional country singer, bred in the West Coast honky tonks, and he won’t apologize for chasing the dream on his own terms.
Pardi delivers it all with increasing authority. He introduced that confidence in Write You a Song, but he takes it another step on California, owing to the additional experience he picked up in the interim as an opening act at arenas and amphitheaters for Dierks Bentley and Alan Jackson.
Jonathan Ryan Pardi was born on May 20, 1985 in Dixon, California, United States. He is 33 years old as of 2019. Widespread Panic keyboardist JoJo Hermann will team with singer-songwriter Jerry Joseph for a tour of Colorado this December.
The Nashville resident and originally a Clovis, California native, Summer’s social media suggests the couple’s been dating since June 2017. That’s when the picture with her musician boyfriend first surfaced on the internet as she took to Instagram to share a photo together.
