Kenny ChesneyKenny Chesney has been a staple in country music for decades. The guitar changed his life dramatically, shifting his career focus from sports to music. With Terminor by his side, Kenny was able to embark on a musical adventure, playing as a resident musician at local clubs.

Chesney has seen it all from the stage. From the early stages of his career, the East Tennessee native was careful to hire photographers to document every step of his journey. Now Chesney — with the help of photographers Allister Ann, Jill Trunnell and Glen Rose, writer Holly Gleason and artistic director Heather Lose — is releasing a high-end, museum quality coffee table book exclusively to his fans.

It’s another 98.5 KYGO concert event! Come get some Chillaxification at Empower Field at Mile High on August 8. Kenny Chesney is coming to Denver with Florida Georgia Line and Old Dominion for the Chillaxification Tour 2020, presented by Blue Chair Bay Rum.

In 1997, Kenny Chesney won the Academy of Music’s New Male Vocalist of the Year award, followed by Top Male Vocalist of the Year in 2002 and the Triple Crown Award in 2005. Additionally, Chesney won the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year award in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

When Kenny was just a beginner guitar player, he didn’t have a long list of original songs to play, so instead, he played lots of covers. At the beginning of his career, he would perform in bars around his college campus and put a tip jar next to the stage. In order to avoid unwanted requests, he taped a sign to the jar, tips welcome, but anything by James Taylor, Kimmy Buffet, or especially Free Bird is $25.” This wasn’t because Kenny didn’t love and respect the artists, but because he was sick of receiving the same requests all the time.

After touring arenas in 2019, Kenny Chesney has announced his return to stadiums for 2020. The performer, who has become synonymous with massive-venue country-music tours, will launch the Chillaxification 2020 Tour on April 18th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The trek currently runs through August 28th, with more shows to be announced. Florida Georgia Line, Old Dominion, and reggae-pop band Michael Franti & Spearhead will open all dates.

Recently singled out by Variety as Country’s only long-term stadium act,” Chillaxification 2020 builds on the enduring rite of summer that Chesney’s stadium shows have become. With the multiple week No. 1 Get Along” from his deeply personal Songs for the Saints, benefiting the Love for Love City Fund, and the steamy Tip of My Tongue” hovering just outside the Top 10 at Country radio, there’s a lot of new music, old favorites and surprises on tap for what will be the summer’s biggest tour.

When Kenney Chesney proved unable to make it to the 2018 Country Music Awards, the organizers knew the show must go on, but wanted to express their deepest sympathies for the star. Tragically, one of his close family members had passed away, and Chesney was consumed by his grief.

It wasn’t until college that Kenny Chesney began to show an interest in pursuing music as a career. Shortly after the release of his debut album, the country division of his record label, Capricorn, shut down. While his first album was under-promoted, Chesney remained undeterred. He signed with a new label to release his second album, All I Need to Know, which gave him his first two Top 10 hits with “Fall in Love” and “All I Need to Know.” Chesney is best known and loved for his emotionally honest style. One of his fastest-rising singles, “Don’t Blink,” written by Casey Beathard and Chris Wallin, paints the picture of a 102-year-old man whose advice to living a long life is “don’t blink.” Other top Kenny Chesney songs include “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems,” “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy,” “The Good Stuff” and “Who You’d Be Today.” Kenny Chesney’s first Greatest Hits compilation, released in 2000, was certified quadruple platinum, demonstrating the success of his career.

After his divorce, Kenny wasn’t in the best spot of his life. Thankfully, he met Amy Colley, a burn-unit nurse and also Miss Tennessee 2005. Reviving his spirits, Amy was the next lucky woman to call Chesney her boyfriend. The two were spotted many times happily vacationing on the clear beaches of the Bahamas and Malibu. The relationship eventually became serious and they even took each other to Thanksgiving vacations with one another’s families. The biggest sign of trust we noted in this relationship was the fact that he let her drive his beloved truck.

Country singer Kenny Chesney was born on March 26, 1968, in Knoxville, Tennessee. While attending East Tennessee State, Chesney hooked up with a college band and started writing his own songs and playing at local bars. The hard-working musician eventually recorded an album to sell at his shows. After graduating with a degree in marketing in 1991, he headed to Nashville to pursue a career in music.

Dubbed Kenny Chesney: Living In Fast Forward,” the book is limited to 3,500 copies — all of which are signed, numbered and include 571 pictures that span his first days on the road, emergence as a headliner, and his path to sold-out stadiums. The pages also get up close with the fans and the glee they feel when experiencing Chesney in his element.

In 2005, Chesney was honored as the Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year for the first time. He released two new albums that year: Be As You Are (Songs From an Old Blue Chair) and The Road and The Radio. Both recordings were smash hits, reaching the top of the country charts with such singles as “Who You’d Be Today” and “Guitars and Tiki Bars.” The following year, he released a concert album, Live: Live Those Songs Again, which topped the country charts and made an impressive showing on the pop charts as well.

No Shoes Nation” is the name of one of Kenny’s fan bases and it refers to his hit song, No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems.” The founders created a symbol for it too, which features a pirates flag with the classic skull and crossbones. During one of Chesney’s performances, he spotted a girl in the crowd, hairless from cancer treatment, and pulled her up on stage. When he sang to her, every little thing is gonna be alright,” the crowd was speechless and in tears. No wonder Kenny’s fans are so dedicated.

Kenny is constantly on tour and you’ll always find him with a 120-employee team which he brings along to help with the planning, equipment, and driving. It’s hard work making sure everything runs smoothly, so Chesney tries to give back to his workers. He makes a lottery to decide which crew member gets the profit from the merchandise sales, and they once got $300,000. To top that off, he takes his employees on vacations for a week of relaxation after each big tour.

Journalist Anderson Cooper got a behind-the-scenes look at Chesney’s pre-concert routine and it was certainly NOT what he expected. The backstage green-room isn’t a fancy place with leather couches and all-you-can-drink martinis.

In terms of education, Kenny was always an academic achiever and even more so, an extracurricular pro. During his teenage years, in the ’80s, Chesney was an avid lover of sports and played on his high school’s baseball and football teams. While studying in college for a degree in advertising, Kenny received a spectacular Christmas present that forever changed the course of his life, The Terminor.” This was Chesney’s first guitar, which he immediately taught himself how to play.
