SAM HUNTWhile every country music fan knows ” Body Like a Back Road ” singer Sam Hunt by now, you may not be as familiar with his wife, Hannah. For much of his set, though, Hunt was less a daring genre-bender than a skilled arena country dynamo, a real jump-on-the-riser, light-up-those-cell-phones go-getter, though with too much chill to come off as a cornball. With their big guitars, bigger drums, and biggest choruses, songs like Leave the Night On” and Saturday Night” look to the weekend as an escape from drudgery but as a youthful triumph over boredom, targeting an audience young enough to not yet equate romance with heartbreak and partying with hangovers – an audience that sold out the Grandstand on the last night of the fair, along with some other fans infatuated enough with Hunt to forget that they were old enough to know better.

Country newcomer Sam Hunt has quickly made a name for himself writing songs for icons like Keith Urban and Kenney Chesney, but lately it’s his solo work that fans are buzzing about. The former college football star cuts a stylish figure at his live shows, where his smooth voice and acoustic guitar strumming always get hearts pumping and feet moving. Whether he’s crooning the catchy “Leave the Night On” or performing the song “Cop Car” that he wrote for Keith Urban, Hunt keeps the energy high and the tunes flowing at his must-see performances.

Welp, this song is just… Sam Hunt It’s his brand of pop country to a T. It’s not offensively pop. It’s not traditional by any means. It’s better than what you’re hearing from the other pop country guys, for sure.

Hunt’s co-writers have alluded to his perfectionist ways — particularly after the success of Montevallo and the accompanying string of hit singles (Leave the Night On, Take Your Time, House Party, Break Up In a Small Town, Make You Miss Me), the pressure is on to outdo himself.

Festivalgoers walk away from the Palomino stage at the Stagecoach country music festival, Indio, Calif., April 27, 2019. So we’re not entirely sure where Sam Hunt is or what he’s up to, but we think it’s fair to say that in addition to some much-needed time away, there’s also a good likelihood new music is on the way.

Luke Bryan’s hit Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye” was just certified double platinum by the R.I.A.A., while his Someone Else Calling You Baby” was just declared platinum. Jon Pardi’s Up All Night” and Billy Currington’s Don’t It” were also certified platinum, while Gary Allan’s It Ain’t the Whiskey,” Eric Church’s Some of It,” Luke’s Drinkin’ Beer & Wasting Bullet” and Sam Hunt’s Downtown’s Dead” were all certified gold.

Honestly, my car radio is always set to the local country station because I only want to listen to those cute love songs that make you momentarily forget that you are cynical about love – so, thank you for that, Sam Hunt.

His songs started to experiment with ways to mix more modern beats and tones with the narrative and wordplay that define the best country music. Some of the other songwriters were skeptical, but when Kenny Chesney recorded Come Over” (written by Hunt along with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, who remain his close associates) and it became a Number One hit, he sensed that he was on to something. When the even more sonically daring Cop Car” became a hit for Keith Urban, Hunt was convinced that he had found an exciting new direction, and began to shift his focus from being a songwriter to stepping out front as a solo artist.

HUNT TIES BEST BOW Sam Hunt ties his highest Country Airplay debut, as “Kinfolks” enters at No. 18 with 12.9 million impressions. The start equals the starting position of his last single, “Downtown’s Dead,” which debuted at No. 18 in May 2018 (and peaked at No. 15 that June).

In interviews, Hunt has offered many reasons for why his second album is taking so long: He likes the idea of releasing singles whenever they’re ready, instead of tethered to a CD release schedule. Thousands of festivalgoers pack into the Palomino stage to watch Lynyrd Skynyrd perform at the Stagecoach country music festival, Indio, Calif., April 27, 2019.

Just about a month ago, in September, Hunt performed a new, unreleased song called “Sinning With You” at a show in Canada. Additionally, he recently revealed in an interview that he has four songs written for his sophomore album, which he says he’ll be turning into the record label on January 1.

Consider Sam Hunt, who headlined the second night of the annual Stagecoach festival in Indio on Saturday. Sandwiched between a Friday-night performance by Luke Bryan (who’s released six studio albums) and a scheduled Sunday-night closer by Jason Aldean (who’s put out eight), this hunky 34-year-old Georgia native was playing one of country music’s biggest stages on the strength of a single album.SAM HUNT

Finally, we got the big hits. The singalongable” (Hunt’s word) Body Like a Back Road” (I know every curve like the back of my hand”), has dominated country radio this year, setting a new record for most weeks topping the charts. As vehicular sex metaphors go, it’s sly and playful, and his cool delivery keeps it from getting icky. Take Your Time,” Hunt’s breakthrough hit, got him pegged as Nashville’s Drake” because he slides between a conversational patter and moments of smooth R&B phrasing. Hunt entered the audience during this one, and encountered a ferocious wave of technologically mediated lust as throngs of cellphones shot toward him, dragging their young female owners behind them. They don’t want to tear his clothes off, they just want to take his picture.

Looks like Sam Hunt wasn’t lying when he said new music was coming soon. It’s been about five years since he put out his debut album and while he’s released a single or two since then, no full album. In addition to his album “Montevallo” (named after the town less than an hour away from UAB), Hunt was inspired by other people and places from his time in Birmingham.

I’m gonna suggest devoting ” Hunt ” time to folks who really matter and who ARE writing and playing country music i don’t think we need to give hunt , urban , aldean , maren morris , underwood or countless other main-streamers ANY coverage or exposure whatsoever I trust you ….and i think most folks here know where you’re coming from i think we’d all be happy leaving this to your discretion let’s not give the sam hunts of the genre any more attention there are so many authentic sincere ARTISTS who need the exposure and the ‘buzz’ its seems almost criminal to be giving it to sam hunt and other pop punters.

As for the album’s title, Montevallo is the name of a small Alabama town where Hunt often retreated these past few years, to visit friends and escape from the pressures of starting a new career in Nashville. He also points out, however, that the word means mountains and valleys” in Spanish—which, he says, feels about right, too.” Because as his remarkable set of songs demonstrates, for Sam Hunt, contradictions are meant to be embraced, rules are meant to be broken, and creativity knows no limits.

Hunt has been writing songs and playing music since his days as quarterback at the University of Alabama Birmingham. Following graduation, Hunt made the move to Music City to pursue songwriting full-time.

2014’s “House Party” was one of Sam Hunt’s first hits. The unexpected performance closed out the all-star CMT Artists of the Year show on Wednesday night (Oct. 16) in Nashville, just after Reba accepted her CMT Artist of a Lifetime award.

In fact, Hunt fell back on country after his career as a UAB quarterback didn’t lead to the NFL, and you can see traces of his athleticism and maybe even his on-field footwork in the way the singer bounded across the State Fair Grandstand stage last night like he was looking for an open man. On his 2014 debut, Montevallo, Hunt integrated the seductive vocal grain of contemporary R&B into a rhythmically spruced up radio-friendly country that adapted the beatwise lessons mainstream pop had learned from hip-hop and electronic dance music without being too pushy about it.

Sam Hunt marked a generational shift in country music, both in music and business. Hunt slipped hip-hop phrasing and modern R&B rhythms into country-pop, signaling a progression from the boisterous bro-country that had previously defined the 2010s.

The top 20 debut of the new release matches the first-week performance of Hunt’s last single, 2018’s ‘Downtown’s Dead,’ which went on to a No. 15 peak. But between 2014 and 2017, the artist had no fewer than five No. 1s on the Country Airplay chart, four of which also topped Hot Country Songs.

Sam Hunt co-wrote his new song Kinfolks,” a song about families. In the meantime, Hunt says his focus will be on making new music. He has been busy writing music for his sophomore album before the tour starts. Hunt wrote “Kinfolks” with longtime collaborators Zach Crowell, Jerry Flowers and Josh Osborne, and the pop-country sound is consistent with the hits Hunt has released in the past.

Sam Hunt is a Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter from Tennessee. Originally, he didn’t perform himself; instead, he wrote songs for other performers. Artists who have sung his lyrics include Keith Urban and Reba McEntire American country music artist Brad Paisley influenced the former football player. While many identify Sam Hunt as a country singer, too, Hunt slides effortlessly between different genres, incorporating pop and R&B for a non-traditional country music experience.

This along with the Dan + Shay and Justin beiber song all coming to country radio at once is way too much. These two song song go back on all the progress made recently becuse they’re all youre going to hear. One surprisingly good release lately was the HARDY HIXTAPE. A lot of good collaborations on there. Also, Brantley Gilbert’s new album has some pretty good cuts.

Sam Hunt headlined the Mane Stage Saturday night at the Stagecoach country music festival, and rumors of a potential surprise guest that swirled all week unfortunately failed to pan out — at least for now.

The album follows Hunt’s recent four-song album preview, X2C, led by the Top Five, gold-selling track Leave the Night On.” Of course, even though he was a recording rookie, Hunt was no stranger to the country music charts, having already written hits for the likes of Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and Billy Currington.

It’s been a glorious five year reprieve after this college football flunkee turned country music EDM mumble rapper lost interest in his own music faster than his bubblegum fans did, and stopped releasing new songs aside from the failed single Downtown’s Dead” from 2018. Since then Sam has teased us with retirement talk (we’d only be so lucky), touted Tyler Childers as an influence, and also said that he expects his new music to be more traditional If you believed that, your as gullible as your uncle who emailed his bank routing number to an Arabian Prince.

Trigger I get you don’t like Sam Hunt and I don’t disagree that his music is not really country but you just posted about Carly Pearce and the pressures that are on these artists to produce this type of music over a more traditional country music sound, did you ever stop to think he’s felt that pressure himself from his label? I mean without knowing what has gone on behind closed doors you are assuming that he was lying and he didn’t want to make more traditional country. I geuss time will tell, I just think it’s a bit unfair to give Carly Pearce the benefit of the doubt then not afford it to other artists, given the pressures they are under to write, record and put out this kind of music because that’s what the record labels want.
